Hello Oppo:

during a coffee-filled car search, I found this very clean-looking green beauty:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I have a question though. In the last two pictures, there is some sort of pump-thing bolted on the frame, right next to the engine.

Kinja'd!!!

What is it? I’m pretty sure it’s not stock, but I could be wrong.
Anyone wanna chirp in and tell me how much of a noob I am?

I don’t recognize it but could be aftermarket power steering. Not uncommon to add that on to older cars when it was less common.

Has balls, not a steer.

It was the second image that popped up when I googled “steer” sorry I didn’t vet it that well. Also I thought steer was just another name for the species. Like how bison and buffalo are used interchangeably

Nope, a steer is a bull that’s missing it’s balls. If they won’t be breeding and be raised solely for meat, the lack of balls makes them more docile and not as dangerous to be around.

That’s probably the most logical answer I received so far.

people call this a steering box... It’s not a box, it’s a cylinder. Duh.

Old school steering setup (or for trucks/Jeeps). Commonly referred to recirculating ball, steering gear, worm, sector, parallelogram, crossover, or convertional steering. Modern cars and smaller trucks use rack and pinion steering setups.
